independent living plus

A supportive, transitional Independent Living program, rooted in community living and youth development, that helps youth prepare for full Independent Living.

Eligible Youth

  • Youth ages 16 through 19.
  • Youth leaving residential services who cannot return home.
  • Youth who cannot be placed into a family foster home.
  • Youth for who adoption is not planned.
  • Youth who can care for themselves with additional supports and demonstrate a capacity and willingness to learn.

Housing Models

  • Each ILP youth is required to have their own bedroom.
  • Host Home: An approved individual 21 years of age or older who can provide guidance and support to the youth in their home.
  • Staff Supported Housing: On-site staffing, apartment-style/dorm-style housing.
  • In either option, the youth pays rent, which cannot exceed 35% of the youth’s IL Stipend income.
