independent living plus
A supportive, transitional Independent Living program, rooted in community living and youth development, that helps youth prepare for full Independent Living.
Eligible Youth
- Youth ages 16 through 19.
- Youth leaving residential services who cannot return home.
- Youth who cannot be placed into a family foster home.
- Youth for who adoption is not planned.
- Youth who can care for themselves with additional supports and demonstrate a capacity and willingness to learn.
Housing Models
- Each ILP youth is required to have their own bedroom.
- Host Home: An approved individual 21 years of age or older who can provide guidance and support to the youth in their home.
- Staff Supported Housing: On-site staffing, apartment-style/dorm-style housing.
- In either option, the youth pays rent, which cannot exceed 35% of the youth’s IL Stipend income.
