This award honors the philosophy of our Founders, Kermit and Jean Hainley. It also honors their strong commitment and devotion to all of the children and families served during the last 57 years and for all those to come.
Their philosophy, shared throughout their lives of ministry to others has been “Seed Planting” principles for growth.
Through God’s help and love, they sowed seeds of respect, love and care into the lives of every child and family that they met. They valued each life and intentionally discovered the unique gifts that each child possessed, using those as stepping stones for the encouragement and growth of that child.
Kermit and Jean felt strongly that building a spiritual foundation was an important tool for success.
Encouraging and supporting growth in family systems was also key.
Using the beautiful natural acreage and purposeful experiential activities, they lived and taught valuable life lessons.
Kermit and Jean shared this passion for seed planting at every opportunity and found partners to support their deep belief in this important work with children and their families. Their 24/7 ministry changed the lives of thousands of Michigan’s children and their families.
Eagle Village has and will continue this legacy. Their gift to Eagle Village was the gift of the way they lived, worked and taught others. Seed planting is the overarching goal of our methods, our culture and our outcomes.
What are the Seed Planting Principles for Growth?
-
You will reap what you sow. “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” – Galatians 6:7
-
You must sow first, before the harvest. “Give and it shall be given to you…” – Luke 6:38
-
It makes a difference where you sow. “…Some fell by the wayside…some fell upon stony places…some fell among thorns…others fell into good ground.” – Matthew 13:3-8
-
You will reap more than you sow. “…Some a hundred fold, some sixty fold, some thirty fold.” – Matthew 13:8
-
You control the harvest. “…he which soweth sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap bountifully.” – ll Corinthians 9:6-11
As taught by founders Kermit and Jean Hainley
