trauma assessments

We understand the complexity of trauma.

We have a team of interdisciplinary professionals that work together to fully assess the impact that traumatic events had upon children. These full day assessments help determine a more specific understanding of the following:

  • Intellectual functioning and impact
  • Executive functioning and impact
  • Emotional and behavioral functioning and impact
  • Physical functioning and impact
  • Sensory functioning and impact
  • Diagnostic formulation
  • Usable Recommendations in 5 areas: Physical, Emotional, Family, Educational and Social Cultural

Our goal is to provide insight and hope that can impact development and everyday functioning.

Interdisciplinary Team

Our team consists of Master’s level Social Workers and/or Counselors, a Registered Occupational Therapist, and a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Master’s level and PhD level interns also make up part of the team composition at times.

What to Expect?

Families are asked to arrive at 8:30 am and the full trauma assessment day lasts approximately 7 hours. Additional pieces of the assessment take place outside of this scheduled day, including phone interviews with parents and/or caregivers. We recognize that this is a long and intensive day and our team prides itself in making the experience as friendly and comfortable as possible. This includes a light breakfast snack, lunch, and beverages provided throughout the day.

Assessment Referral and Cost

Eagle Village has a contract with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to provide this service. Your MDHHS case worker completes a referral to start the process. We also provide private trauma assessments and referral forms are available upon request.
