Children’s Advocacy Center Specialist

The Children’s Advocacy Center Specialist is responsible to effectively participate in all CAC services and maintain a diverse caseload; able to function in each of the following roles as needed: intake coordinator, family advocate, and forensic interviewer. Will assist with and oversee scheduling, communication and coordination with team and external partners, completing all necessary intake paperwork, and providing as-needed support to other team members. Will meet all training requirements as a child-abuse forensic interviewer, conduct pre- and post-interview meetings, interview child victims, and complete all related documentation and paperwork. Will establish and maintain contact with the child and caregivers to serve as liaison, providing support from initial contact through the entire investigative and prosecution process. Will coordinate with community partners to lead Multi-disciplinary Teams (MDT), if needed. This position will also be trained for Foster Care Licensing.  Additional responsibilities include (but not limited to): Recruit, license and supervise foster family homes for children needing out-of-home placement; to determine and monitor foster home licensing rules compliance, assessing foster family strengths and weaknesses; to investigate rule noncompliance complaints; to inform and facilitate training opportunities for families; to develop and facilitate recruitment program.

Brief Description on Any Preferences

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social work or a related human services field from an accredited college or university required. Completion of Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan Child Forensic Interviewing training and 40 hours of nationally or state recognized forensic interview training prior to providing services.
