Dear Prayer Partners,

I have this wrinkled slip of yellow paper on my desk. It is cut around the edge with those funny scissors my own children used to use that left a patterned cut… not a straight line. Written on the note in pencil is the answer from one of our residents to the question, “What is something good that God has done for you lately?”

He wrote, simply, “He has help me with my anger”.

I’ve kept it because it is for me a powerful reminder that so many of the positive changes we see in the lives of the kids and families we serve aren’t a result of our hard work—though our staff work very hard—or of our amazing programs, which really are highly effective. This note is a reminder for me that God is at work in us and through us. He is the one who gives hope, brings healing and ultimately changes lives.

Philippians 2:13 reminds us that “it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” We see it every day, and so did this resident.

I hope you’ll continue to pray for God to work in the lives of the children and families we serve, believing that He will give hope, bring healing, and change many lives!

Thank you, and may God richly bless you as you seek Him!
