Dear Prayer Partners,
This week, I heard one the youth here at Eagle Village shared a prayer request with some of the staff that he would like to be able to go to Mars! Doesn’t that sound fun! When I was a kid, I really wanted to go to space too, and hearing that this little guy had dreams that were way beyond his current circumstances was so encouraging.
In chapel, we’re now in the midst of a study through the book of Philippians, a letter that Paul wrote in the midst of some very difficult circumstances in his own life. But the book of Philippians doesn’t come across as sad or somber, it comes across full of joy! Paul, in the midst of tough times, was able to experience joy and hope way beyond his circumstances. Just like the boy who dreamed of going to Mars.
In Philippians 1:4, Paul says, “In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.”
In Philippians 1:25, he writes, “I will continue with all of you to help you grow in your faith. I will also continue to help you be joyful in what you have been taught.”
In Philippians 2:2, Paul writes, “Be one in spirit and in the way you think and act. By doing this, you will make my joy complete.”
In Philippians 2:17-18, he says, “I am joyful with all of you. So you too should be glad and joyful with me.”
In Philippians 3:1, Paul says, “Be joyful because you belong to the Lord!”
And in Philippians 4:4 he says it again… twice, “Always be joyful because you belong to the Lord. I will say it again. Be joyful!”
As you pray with us this month, would you pray with joy that each youth and family member we serve, and each person who serves them, would experience the joy of the Lord!
